Of late, news and reports of scratch and win are making headlines in our daily newspaper and making head spin on overdrive. It’s a lucrative business to the scammer and destructive pathway to the victims. One wonder why despite numerous warnings and exposures by the media, many are still vulnerable to the too good to be true opportunity.
One must realized that if a scheme is too good to be true, in all probabilities it is too good. Stop. Any get rich scheme, must be vet in depth. There are no short cut in making money @ getting rich, though there are numerous way of getting rich quickly with hard work and smart marketing strategies within legitimate business entities. Thus, in such a scheme, there will be an amount of work to be done smartly and honestly (at that). If one deposits certain amount of money without doing anything else, then, a red flag must raise the alarm. Only in bank deposits (saving, fixed) that one can deposits money and calculate and anticipate an amount of returns at the end of month/year. Even in unit trusts investments one has to be alert of the ups and downs of the so called funds and give appropriate instructions every now and then.
Next, the now very famous scratch and win situation. If it is really scratch and win program, then what one need to do is scratch there and then and win whatever it is there and then too. The scenario is like as those in the fan fare or any legitimate promotion. You throw a loop and win a bear toy. It should be on the spot. And again, if you WIN something, you NEED NOT have to pay for it. PLEASE take note that winning is getting the stuff FREE. If you need to redeem it, it scams, Full stop. A red flag should be flying in front of you. And if you won a car, in all probabilities, the media should be flashing their camera and wanting to interview you.
So, when you have to redeem your gift, and sign the doted line at some deserted office accompanied by the agent, you are actually buying your wins, and the stuffs you redeem are of inferior quality and you actually do not need them. But alas, the fine print stated that you bought the stuffs voluntarily and it is not refundable. You’ve been shortchanged!!! Know you right, be smart, and remember, winning is getting it free.
