Day out @ Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt

frozen yogurt wt seeds, nuts & mashmallows
On one of my foodie adventure with my cousin NS, we stopped by the famous talk of the town yogurt outlet  , the Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt at Ampang Putra Residensi after playing tourist in the city centre. Tutti-frutti come from Italian word - all fruits - which is a colorful confection containing various chopped fruits, and when combined created a simulating flavour of many different fruits.
At Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt, there were arrays of different kinds of chopped fruits, seeds, nuts, mashmallow amongst others. But of course the star is the frozen yogurt in all imaginable flavors and colors. It was hyped that Frozen Yogurt is a healthy alternative to ice cream. Enough "educational" informations.

confusing dispensing time!
Upon entering the outlet, walk to the yogurt dispenser and make a quick mental observation and appease your yogurt desire by choosing the flavour most tantalizing to your taste buds. Then, choose your desired cup size. NS and me chose the smallest cup size, since I am NOT a yogurt fan on all count! Dispensing the yogurt into our cup was an adventure by itself. Reading the instructions over and over again. It was quite a disappointment to me, since there were three outlet workers chit chatting and seems oblivious to our predicament. Least they could do were to offer some help, since there were bound to be first timer to even attempt to have a spoonful of their so called famous Frozen Yogurt.

Anyway, moving on, we chose our toppings of some seeds, nuts and a dash of chocolate fudge. The cups were put on a shinning weighing machine and we paid about RM25++. We were given lollipop like sweets and we find a nice corner to devoured our frozen yogurt. The chairs and table were very comfy and very Acepaizah's friendly.

great ambiance wt vibrant colors
our tutti frutti adventure
Overall it was a pleasant experience. Nevertheless, I may not visit again (especially this outlet) since I am not fond of yogurt, frozen or otherwise. Notwithstanding the above fact, I did managed to finish my cup of frozen yogurt, may be its due to the fact that I play safe by dispensing the Vanilla flavoured frozen yogurt and topped it generously with chocolate fudge! So, on Acepaizah scale it earned a decent 7 for taste and flavor, 8 for its nice comfy ambiance and 5 for the unfriendly service. To be fair, on another occasion the outlet at Ukay Boulevard were exceptionally friendly and polite though I only had Black Tea!

Foodie Arabian Adventure @ Al Rawsha Restaurant, Kuala Lumpur

Chicken & Lamb Mandy
Last Saturday my cousin NS, her mum, brother NF, YH and me went for an Arabian dinner at the Al Rawsha Restaurant along Jalan Kampong Pandan, Kuala Lumpur before NS left for New Zealand after being home for holidays. This Lebanese restaurant humbly started in a small bungalow along Jalan Damai, off Jalan Ampang behind the Jalan Tun Razak police station where parking were a big problem. Anyway, legends has it that the name is derived from a legendary rock in Beirut Lebanon.

The menu was very impressive with rows upon rows of Lebanese cuisines which were hard to pronounce lest to know what it were, but for the Grace of God there were accompanying pictures to provide us some ideas. However, for the record, NS could speak and read  Arabic. We ordered the mandatory Chicken and Lamb Mandy which according to the menu's description were a traditional Hadramawt earth baked rice with chicken/lamb. We ordered a serving for three person though there were five of us. To our shocking eyes, the serving were really enormous!

To complement the Mandy dishes, we ordered Lamb and Chicken Kebabs which were made of minced meat with onion and parsley marinated in spices served with generous portion of fries and coleslaw. Enjoying Middle Eastern cuisine is not complete without its bread and Hummus which were made of chick peas, sesame sauce, lemon and olive oil.The Hummus was very tasty, soft and tender and we had to have seconds, together with my all time favourite middle eastern salad, the Tabbouleh made of finely minced parsley, finely diced tomato, onion, weet and olive oil. To complete the dining experience, my cousin brother NF and me had the authentic Arabian mint tea in tiny glasses while NS had apple juice, my aunt had black tea and YH enjoyed her plain water.

Full Table
Overall, it was a great dining experience. Everyone enjoyed the dishes to the last bite of the very sweet Baqlawa at RM2.00 per pop! The Mandy dishes were accompanied by a bowl of creamy yogurt much to YH's delight and tomato gravy with a tinge of spiciness. The Mandy rice were very tasty, even eating on its own. The chicken portion were enormous, half chicken per serving and we ordered 2 serving of Chicken Mandy which translate to one whole bird on the dining table! Everthing were a perfect 9.9 on Acepaizah's scale. The ambiance were very nice with very Arabian decors and music but it could be better if the tables were not to too close to each other. What a memorable irresistible Middle Eastern cuisine-exquisitely Lebanese dining interlude and observations.

New Year Lunch @ Kelab Golf Darul Ehsan

sweet sour prawns
Hi hi folks... Ending 2012 with my General prawns and starting new year with Corporal rank prawns, sob sob sob. Having my first new year's lunch with LL at Kelab Darul Ehsan's coffee house (Darul Ehsan Golf Club), after scouting for places like Ampang Look Out Point which only open from 5pm onwards to have our first new year lunch. Since our stomach were already growling, I suggested KDE Club.

We had sweet sour prawn dish which was too sweet with only a slight tinge of sourness. The gravy was too watery but the prawns were fresh, tasty, soft and crunchy. For veggies, we have Kailan in oyster sauce which was a bit salty and hence we omit the gravy.

Assam pedas tenggiri
LL simply love  tenggiri (mackerel) fish and she ordered assam pedas tenggiri. The tenggiri piece were not in one piece but broken into smaller pieces, may be due to stirring furiously. I am not a fan of assam pedas since it is naturally too spicy for me. Hence, I just 'fish' out pieces of the fish and the accompanying veggies sans the sour and spicy stew. As usual, my all time favourite is the simple stir fry bean sprouts with salted fish. However, on this instant, the bean sprouts were over cooked and loses its crunchiness. The sprouts fell flat and limpy in the plate.
over cooked bean sprouts!
I am happy to note that LL enjoyed and savouring each bite of the dishes especially the tenggiri asam pedas. Many stories were exchange during our lunch record breaking time of nearly 3 hours! It was a good start of 2013. However, scale must be given to the dishes.Besides the broken pieces of the tenggiri fish, the assam pedas is definitely the star dish of the day, and the bean sprouts fell well below to 3 on Acepaizah's scale. The serving plates again fell below to 3 on Acepaizah's scale since all the dishes were served in different and mixed pattern of serving plates, though all were of reputable table ware. In fact the Kailan dish was served in Tai Thong Chinese Restaurant's serving plate (which was next to the Duyong Coffee house) that was recently closed! Will I visit KDE again, definitely yes, because the ambience is great and the staff are polite, it is not crowded and its cooling while playing Russian roulette with the dishes!

2013's resolutions with a twist!

Tiny buds, the Winter through,
Wait to open in the Spring
In a scented yellow ring.

Simple 2013 anecdote from Acepaizah &; anonymous:

Visions and boundaries.
Structure visions and boundaries.
Vision is the product of what u want in future
Mission, specific action to achieve your vision, goals
Identifying the problem and solutions.
Reclaiming your power,  audit your life.
Your time is your life.
How you spend it ends up being what your life is.
Food, failure, success & hope.
It dawn on me that we human can survive with minimal food intake.
The only true failure-when you stop trying
Only those who are disciplined will ultimately succeed!
Suffering produces character, and character produces hope and hope does not disappoint us!
