NN's beautifully baked bread pudding |
Homemade
dishes are always the best. I am lucky to be surrounded by chef and sous chef. My
three nieces took after their mother and know their way around the kitchen very
well. My niece NN love to get her hands busy with western sweet desserts, while FA is
famously known for her cake starting with the humble sandwich cake, courtesy of my BFF's ‘secret recipe’. On the other hand NR is
good at cooking Malaysian local cuisine. NN have been experimenting with all sort of
dessert, from the humble plain pudding to the unpronounceable Pavlova!

NN's master piece pavlova!!! |
During
my recent visit, she baked her mouth watering bread pudding, simple yet very
tasty. Little brother MS helped with the breaking of the newly bought Gardenia
bread loaf.

MS' craftmanship |
I think, she then, drizzled melted butter over the bread. Then
mixed some eggs (i think), milk, sugar, cinnamon and some vanilla in a separate bowl then pour
over the bread while pushing down lightly with spoon/fork until the bread is covered and
soaked with the mixture. Sprinkle
with lots of raisins.

baking.... |
Baked in preheated oven about 30-40 minutes or until the top
springs back when lightly tapped. It may be served with sweet sauce of some
sort like caramel or custard sauce. Serve warm or cold. However, for want of
accompanying sauce ingredients, we ate it as soon as it was taken out of the
oven with a piping hot mug of caffeinated drinks! A timeless recipe passed from
generation to generation!
p/s: NN commented that her sweet sauce, was custard sauce... emmm... I cannot really differentiate custard from caramel...
