Jalan-jalan cari makan in Perlis

Tasoh Lake at dusk
Perlis is such a beautiful state. Stress seems to just disappear making our head lighter. In fact our short lost was also an adventure by itself. By my normal standard driving behaviour I would have lost my patient and driving etiquette too! Upon reaching our destined destination, we were greeted by the breathtaking and awesome Tasoh Lake and literally blown away by its breezing winds.

Dinner was beside the Lake and it was very windy with a full moon above the open space. I took a couple of photos of the moon with so many twinkling stars. It has been ages since I last saw so many twinkling stars in the sky. The menu for the night is very simple. Grilled chicken, beef rib soup, some salad with its accompanying dips and sauces and of course piping hot rice. The grilled chicken were moist and finger licking good, satiates our hunger pang from our 11 hours driving from the city of Kuala Lumpur indeed.

For breakfast the following morning, we drove out into the town of Beseri about 7 or 8 km from the resort. To our pleasant surprise many stalls were open for business as early as 7.30 am not withstanding that it was a Saturday morning. We opted for a Roti Canai stall after passing it twice, after 'checking' a few others through our car's windows and driving at 50 kph. The stall with no particular name was manned by a man named En Azhar, and he said he hailed from Terengganu. He was such a shutter box and greetings his patron by their first name! And a talking facts and figures "public officer" of the happenings in Perlis. He updated us on the PMR's result ( public examination sat by 15 years old student).

And of course, all these informations, greetings and such were given while he was busy making the Roti Canai!

Perlis is also famous for its Ikan Pekasam (<>pickled fish) which were being sold along the road leading to Padang Besar near the Tasoh Timah Dam up to about 3 or 4 KM from the Tasoh Lake Retreat & Resort. Over all my Perlis foodie adventure was great and we were pleasantly taken back by the over friendly Roti Canai maker, En Azhar who greeted us like old pals, took our order, make our roti-s and practically is a talking tourism officer. I would give his genuine hospitality a perfect 10, the roti telur perhaps a 6.5 and value for money a 9 on Acepaizah's scale.
